Die Tankstelle der Verdammten

"Currywurst, if you remain faithful to me, / I will not fear hell, / but if you get too crispy, / I will punish you with ketchup."
"What goes up and then goes down here, between rust-red gas pumps and company owned feeding grounds, is the most glorious gimmick of the season. Because, of course, the story tells of the trashed ex-rock'n'roller Chuck, his bride who is with child, several equally wrecked drunkards, and a credit shark (actually more of a credit goldfish). All chase after their career dreams of giving concerts, making records, owning BMWs and mansions, and the play is set at the titular gas station. Until the final inferno begins, in the form of a gentleman named Karl "the cruel." Of course, this trivial mythical story is also a bit threadbare. But the threads are beautiful.
Georg Ringsgwandl ... reveals his talent in his first musical theater play. It is true that this gas station of the damned is more a numbers musical than a fable enriched with dramatic contrasts or exaggerations. ... But this "lousy operetta" could also be the beginning of a (hopefully) wonderful friendship between southern German cabaret, world music, and the new German musical." (Theater heute)
