Krieg der Wellen - Club Night Special live mit Wigald Boning
A radio play playing with the reality of radio in two ways: the comedy star Wigald Boning, famous from commercial television, comes back to hr-Radio for a “Club Night Special”. Shortly after his radio show starts, a commando from the Federal Armed Forces occupies the broadcasting studios in Dornbusch and forces Boning to read out an “explanation to the people of the Federal Republic of Germany”. Shots are fired in the studio; the programme is aborted. To keep the listeners up to date about the incident, a Berlin broadcaster interrupts its programme and is immediately transformed into a special studio for ARD that is broadcast right around the country. The events escalate…

“There has never been anything comparable in German radio plays: In ‘real time’, we experience how the machinery of a crisis is set in motion. Those who listen carefully will detect the ironic tone that indicates that the whole thing is an inherently fun and astute critique of the media. Krieg der Wellen (War of the Waves) is highly recognisable and makes you laugh out loud.” (Christian Deutschmann, Frankfurter Allgemeiner Zeitung)
