The wife of the mayor of a medium-sized town and the chief editor of the regional newspaper are having an affair, but on the eve of the election campaign, no one must know about this. The mayor is being taught how to appear as a beaming representative of private bliss and the chief editor is the head of the opposition. Seen from afar, the affair is scandalous, yet it has long become an eerily funny role play. This evening the woman will make her escape, she has reached her limit. During the evening, a stutterer, a skinhead, a right-wing goon squad, their leader with morbid tendencies, and the police join in.
