Thomas is terminally ill and wants to take his own life with the help of a euthanasia organisation. Having spent some time abroad, he returns to Switzerland for this. His friend Lorenz and his wife Vera host the man with a death wish. They are supposed to care for him during his final days, together with his half-sister Sara.
They have to find a date, write an obituary and run through the arrangements for his death. Clarifying the details leads to confrontation. Tensions rise as each day brings them closer to the day when assisted death companion Frau Hegnauer will help Thomas commit suicide. Conflicts and unsolvable entanglements from the past come to light.
