Our protagonist is looking for a name, a foreign name, one that is difficult to pronounce, like the word woman or the word graduation or the word life.
Hamsterrad is a coming-of-age story that attempts to condense questions of identity in all its forms: gender identity, sexual orientation and class. The play doesn't provide any answers, but it does offer directions and tubes. Every hamster has to find its own way.
