Ista Kenovic, born in 1960 in Visegrad, a small town near Sarajevo; German teacher and mother of Baya, 15 years old, and Ayleen, 9 years old; on the 28 June 1994, both were shot by the Serbian commandant Boris Bascic.
Boris Bascic, commandant of the paramilitary group “Beli Orlovi” during the war against Bosnia. In hiding in Germany. The International Court of Justice in The Hague is investigating him. But a warrant can only be issued if individual guilt can be proven. Today, he is living in Kiel as the owner of a gym. 46 years old.
Goran Ristric, Serbian. Subordinate of Boris in 1994 and his henchman. Badly traumatised. 27 years old.
What happens when the war is over, but the personal biographies and traumas, the question of guilt and the search for truth and justice in connection with the (one’s own) past are still being written? And how can the story be told for the theatre?
“Systematic and subtle at the same time, Oliver Czeslik condenses all layers of presenting and getting close to highly contemporary topics into a volatile piece of contemporary theatre – and captivates once more with his ability ‘to make a subject dance by juggling with dramatic structures long enough to confuse the certainty of perception’”. (Michael Merschmeier)
