It’s one year after high school graduation. Ben is leaving home—and moving in with his girlfriend Tina. Everything should be packed by now, but it is not, although Tina has been waiting for Ben for ages. Tina begins to empty Ben's room piece by piece. Alex, who was once Ben's best friend, suddenly stands in the door. Alex - with whom Tina thinks Ben is no longer in contact. Electricity is in the air. And when Alex suddenly kisses Ben, it becomes clear that there is more than friendship between the two. Tina surprises them, and begins to understand. But she does not want to give up Ben without a fight; Ben has to decide between the two of them.

In his new play, Lothar Kittstein describes the young adults' first steps towards independence. In a constant alternation between distance and nearness, the play reflects the inner turmoil of the protagonists. The detachment from childhood, the discovery of one's own sexuality, and the problems of growing up - all this is concentrated in Ben’s desperate question: Isn't it possible to love two people at the same time?

Tokio was developed in collaboration with young people from Trier, as commissioned for the Theater Trier.
