In Mücken sind Kernobst, two ideologies – communism and religion – clash within a single family: the father is a Marxist, the mother a Christian – while she says the Lord’s Prayer, he recites Marx’s Das Kapital. Their son is stuck in the middle, and all that he has left between the two fronts is retreat. Seven creatures from the netherworld also emerge in the play and claim back their lives – they stand for the masses of people who have died senselessly for one of the regimes.
