For the fifth time they visit the lake, the sisters Martha and Anny. For the fifth time, Martha hopes that her son who drowned here will come back alive again. For the fifth time, she waits in vain. The dead boy does not rise from the gloomy waters, just the unhappy memories of the two old women. Mourning turns into a confrontation of the past. Mercilessly, the sisters illuminate the lives of others, reveal, condemn, and hurt themselves desperately. Anny, deathly ill, and Martha, sorrowful. With skill, they use their knowledge to destroy illusions, they carefully listen to each other’s cries for help. At some point, Anny flees from the truth. Beyond the foggy meadow, she discovers her prince. The old woman goes to greet him. Silence. Martha's shouting, Martha's sobbing is swallowed up by the fog. The water splashes. There is an old man sitting on the bank, just sitting there, throwing stones into the water. No trace of Anny.
