In 2000, she was awarded the Roswitha Prize of the City of Bad Gandersheim and the Johann Heinrich Merck Prize of the German Academy of Language and Poetry; in 2007 she was awarded the Ernst Robert Curtius Essay Prize and in 2012 the Schiller Prize of the City of Mannheim.
