Silvia Bovenschen, born 1946, author, literary scholar, and essayist, lives in Berlin. In 2000, she was awarded the Roswitha Prize of the City of Bad Gandersheim and the Johann Heinrich Merck Prize of the German Academy of Language and Poetry; in 2007 she was awarded the Ernst Robert Curtius Essay Prize and in 2012 the Schiller Prize of the City of Mannheim.
