It’s about survival. First, about survival in the turmoil of globalisation and a pedagogical crisis. And things are not quite working out in their marriage as well. Hans and Ella Horvarth can’t agree on how to proceed with the airplane cleaning company inherited from mother. Ella wants to merge and become elegant. Hans wants to continue to conduct business as Mama did. As a family business. After all, employing asylum seekers yields double profit. And a margin of 80%. That’s something you won’t give up even with the smallest return.
But then professor Chrobath appears and makes an indecent offer to daughter Tini. Father Horvath rages and the professor isn’t breathing quite right anymore. And because everyone has seen the dead professor, the situation must be fixed. A garden hose and the fumes from the VW bus used to transport the workers are enough to turn a container into a gas chamber. And if you light that on fire, it’s a case for the insurance. But. Hans gets gravely injured during the fire. Even arson is a skill that has to be practised. Mute Grete, Hans’ sister, has to talk again and take matters into her own hands. And like her mother, she surpasses herself in times of crisis. She saves the company. Even during the plague, they earn money. Under the dictatorship of the hygiene authorities. And like the petit bourgeois always did, she saves the beautiful. The good had to be sacrificed to make compromises. No one knows the truth. No one even knows all the lies. And fortunately, a loving couple escapes. Will they do better in the next millennium?
