Harald Kislinger

Die Axt im Bischofsrücken oder
Der letzte Plattenspieler
Ein Wahnsinn

UA: 29.06.1996 · Deutsches Nationaltheater, Weimar · Directed by: Harald Gebhartl
“As long as the shops were full of LPs, the fan didn’t have to let himself be patronised by either the radio or the press. He studied the covers which appealed to his curiosity; he was able to interpret the signs, to read the pictures and then to judge for himself whether he had to perceive a cover as a warning or a promise.
This love story is ending now, and nothing worth mentioning will come after it. With a CD, you can’t tell who listened to it, how often and how intensely. You probably can’t say anything about its listeners, either.” (Der Spiegel)

About the play:
A monologue for an actor without inhibitions – a goodbye performance for all record players.
And who of us never did it? Never? Renate? Egon? Knut? Aunt Bulli? Mister Karl? Everyone put vinyls on, those round black thingies… And now…??
It’s over, dear people, this Kislinger play is a goodbye performance – with nicely pathetic monologue irony with some relation to reality… a romantic fairy tale for all vinyl wankers and those who want to become them.
Today, Kislinger has his CDs – and he is not THE same – like so many… do you still remember the good times of the big record covers, Renate, Didi, Uwe, Peter, Klausi, Harald?
A lonely last party of the art of theatre language about mister record player… suitable for you, lonely great actors… put the last record on…. Your Harald K.!
