Anukami is a boy from Hamburg whose trace is lost in the nowhere. A commuter between worlds. One world: his gang. Drugs, fun, hip-hop, friendship and – violence. The other world: his mother. Of Arabian origin, who buried her roots between the Euphrates and the Tigris. Who tried to cast off her heritage her whole life. She raised her son with strict ideas about decency and morals.

Anukami has never met his father. He went searching for a purpose a long time ago, without ever returning.
On the roof of an eerie condemned house, Anukami suddenly meets an old man who seems strange, yet familiar. Who describes the world to him and awakens his aspiration. Who eats dates and talks of roots. Who knows his name and can look into his heart. In a blend of fascination and disgust, Anukami longs for his closeness. The following time, the man finally wants to tell his son the truth. But on this night, the police are on the boy’s heels. He doesn’t have a way back anymore. He must leave, alone, with a ship, like his father once did.
Einer von uns is a Perceval-transcription, a variation about aberrations, home, guilt and the quest for the right way.
