Gotthelm oder Mythos Claus
Eine Tropophobie
Auftragsarbeit für das Schauspiel Frankfurt

UA: 25.01.07 · Schauspiel Frankfurt · Directed by: Christiane J. Schneider
Seven people in a hair salon. All are female and all are named Claus. Under the hair dryers, they each solve a crossword puzzle. In trying to help each other, they discover that they are all working on the same crossword puzzle. The key word is "God". This concept is so foreign to all of the Clauses that they doubt the correctness of the riddle. Unaware of the others, each Claus experiences a specific awakening during the puzzle discussion, under their apparently manipulated hair dryers. In a key scene, the seven Clauses confess to each other that they have seen things. Each trying to outdo the others, they attempt to reenact their personal revival. All attempts fail. In the end, however, they make a discovery that will change their lives...

The author Michael Lentz, who has previously appeared as a lyricist and narrator, has written a play for Schauspielfrankfurt, which, with subtle irony, questions reality and leads us to the limits of our intellectual capacity. (Announcement Schauspielfrankfurt)

"... The play is so deadly serious and eerily funny, it is cheeky, fast, lightfooted, glaring. Wonderful antitheater, a play which laughs in the face of established art. And an insider tip for the Berlin Theatertreffen!" (Deutschlandfunk)

"... The direction by Christiane J. Schneider lends itself to Lentz’s literary program. She lets actors fire his word-drama into the audience at a merciless pace. She emphasizes the playful, whimsical, comic features of the play ... a splendid parody of the 68-ers’ plenary meetings with all the macho gestures of the self-proclaimed revolutionaries.
