In HEILIGE SCHRIFT I, Wolfram Lotz embarks on a crazy journey into his own head. In search of the core of writing, the meaning of art and the question of what could even be described as art, he wanders through his own life in this diary fragment and tries to decode the messages that his environment is aware of or sends unconsciously. To this end, the author constantly questions himself and his perception, transforms himself into Miley Cyrus and Peter Handke and describes beautiful moments and sad, frustrating, hopeless, irritating and contradictory ones - by briefly illuminating them with linguistic highlights and then to plunge them back into the dark, as fleeting as woodlice that move when the light falls on them, only to be gone again immediately.
There is a fragile beauty in the ephemerality of these descriptions that is difficult to escape from. The images that Wolfram Lotz finds are megalomaniac and modest at the same time. How radical does an author's claim to himself have to be? How radical is the demand on the world? Wolfram Lotz pursues these questions in his 800-page diary with such an enticing and humorous lightness that it only gradually becomes clear what a bottomless abyss lurks beneath.
