7 women, 7 actresses between 73 and 23 are waiting in the dressing room. He has called them all for his theatre production in which he wants to bring the life of Mao’s wife, Jiang Quing onto the stage. Because he once was a Maoist himself. And he loved them all, his women. Each one of them has her experience with him. Had. All of them always between twenty and thirty. That’s the period which he usually casts for. They have a lot to tell each other, about their time with him. And about the time without him. Shall they really play the wife of a mass murderer? Or should they rather move in front of his house and demonstrate against him and against the power he has over them? Had over them. As theatre manager, as director and as their lover. Through five rounds, they discuss the mechanisms and clichees of patriarchal structures with an evil wit and great humour. Mar-a-Lago. is a modern fast-paced “drawing room play” and a highly political comment on the #MeToo debate at the same time.
