A suicidal Norwegian searches for kindred spirits to kill himself with online. A young Austrian replies, and they meet on a snowy cliff in Norway to jump to their deaths together. Their death wish has grammatical rather than biographical reasons: for them, life has only been “living” not being “in the middle of life”.
Bauersima was inspired by a true story to write a reconstruction of the last hours of the two suicides and to give events his own spin. To film their last hours for posterity, they must act. But when they act, they don’t feel like dying…
This play, written as a commissioned work for the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, has already been translated into many languages and incorporated into the repertoire of more than a hundred theatres worldwide.
