UA: 24.10.2008 · Schauspielhaus am Pfauen, Zürich (Schiffbau Halle 2) · Directed by: Matthias Hartmann
In Sex, Justine del Corte sketches a panorama of sexuality. It touches old and young couples. Approach and rejection. Desire and disgust. Origin and originality. Above all lies the imagery of water. Being carried by the waves of pleasure and dipped into the softness of this wet element, the moist pushes into the imagery. Women become mermaids, lovers become swans, children get sloshed out of their mother’s bellies and conceptions are accompanied by ocean connotations.
Sexuality’s involvement in the range of human behaviour in this play creates the highs and lows of the interpersonal approach in a poetical, but also absurd and brutal way.
Sex was one of four plays invited to the Thalia Theater Hamburg as part of the Hamburger Autorentheatertage 2007.
