Wolfgang Ambros

Wolfgang Ambros was born in Austria in 1952. After leaving school early, he worked in record shops and wrote his first songs based on poems by Joesi Prokopetz. His song Hofa reached the charts in 1971. In 1972, he and Prokopetz founded the project group Dröhnung together with Manfred Tauchen and first performed the original version of Der Watzmann ruft as a midnight reading during the Arena 72 festival. To this day, his songs have been sold 5 million times, he has produced 21 studio albums and 40 compilations and live albums and has performed live uncountable times in more than 30 years on the stage.
