John von Düffel... takes on yet another Thomas Mann novel for the Saarland State Theater and develops a dramatization of Felix Krull. With his Felix Krull, Thomas Mann gives us the fascinating memoirs of a torn criminal and fanatic who twists society around his little finger with ease and thus makes his way upwards.Felix Krull breaks away from his bankrupt parental home in the Rheingau, in order to give the rich, the beautiful, and the powerful just what they want to see in him, all with a “natural talent for good form.”

Along the way, he withdraws from the military, seduces Parisian ladies, and ultimately exchanges his identity with that of the Marquis de Venosta, who is threatened with disinheritance. Nothing more seems to stand in the way of a glamorous life full of "love-pleasure"…not for Felix, the lucky one, the emperor of swindlers and thieves.

"Worth seeing. [...] A bravura ensemble play." (Saarbrücker Zeitung)
