Nine characters* meet in a safe space community for Afro-German people. And because they all talk, provoke, react - or not - to each other, because sensitivities are addressed and fears are formulated, because they communicate in a crazy way, hyperventilate introvertedly, argue, love and lie, at first glance they seem like a close-knit community, but at second glance they don't seem like one at all.
Lamin Leroy Gibba's mixture of party talk and self-help group therapy makes it possible to experience just how complicated it is to combine the various role attributions and experiences. By viewing the characters with loving humour, the author lures the laughing audience onto wafer-thin ice. Because there are always sentences that seep into the merriment like poison. Sentences in which the pain and deep-seated insecurity are inescapably palpable. Which is why, as you listen, you slip deeper and deeper into a sense of these manifold abysses. Nothing is as clear-cut as it seems, it is always about understanding each other and moving on. A perfectly orchestrated, deliciously entertaining jumble of voices that could be described as a well-made BLACK play in the best sense of the word.

* All characters are Black and must be played by Black performers. Afro-German, Black, African, German etc. are the self-designations of the individual characters. Dark-skinned and light-skinned refer to the skin colour spectrum of Black people. The gender identities of the characters adapt to the performers of the respective production.
