Igor Bauersima

Igor Bauersima was born in Prague in 1964 and grew up in Switzerland. Since 1989 he has been working as an author, director, architect and set designer. Since the late 1990s he has belonged to the driving forces of new theatre forms and to the avant-garde of using film and video on stage. His plays are substantially anchored in philosophical concepts. In the 2003/04 season, Bauersima was the most frequently produced author on the German language stage. His plays have been translated into more than 20 languages and have been presented in more than 140 theatres in the world. Bauersima has worked as author, director and designer for theatres in Düsseldorf, Vienna, Hamburg, Zurich, Hannover, Stuttgart, Antwerpen and others. Since 2007, he has increasingly been writing for film together with his co-author Réjane Desvignes.
