Jean-Paul Maes was born in Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxemburg in 1955. After training as an actor in Austra, he worked in diverse theatres in Germany. Since 1988, he has lived in Luxemburg again, and in 1990, his first play Manila, du mäin hiirzegt Kand was staged with great success at the Théâtre des Capucins in Luxemburg. Several plays followed, and today he is one of the most performed dramatists of his country.
