„Vienna, Saturday, the 6th of November 1919Around 5 o’clock to the theatre and into my box. Excellent performance with an unsettled first act because many came too late. Very amiable mood in the audience so that I was already called out after the second act and only stayed seated because I didn’t know the way to the stage. At the end, full, warm success with many curtain calls, with the actors and by myself. (Thomas Mann in his diary about the opening night of Fiorenza at the Akademietheater in Vienna)
